THE WORLD FAMOUS HARLEM WIZARDS SHOW OUT AGAINST THE FIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S DOUBLE DOUBLE DUNKERS TEAM IN A FUND-RAISER BASKETBALL GAME

Pasadena, Ca- The crowd goes wild as the Harlem Wizards entered the gymnasium at Pasadena High School, where Field Elementary School held their first annual fund-raising basketball event. Over 400 people showed up to witness the flying acrobatic stunts and amazing tricks that the Harlem Wizards had to offer for entertainment. The students, staff members, family members and friends of Field Elementary School, enjoyed the creative styles of basketball that were presented to them on that warm Sunday afternoon.

There was an opening VIP party to meet the Harlem Wizards, which was followed by a great performance by the Field Elementary School's Spirit Team. The game announcer was yours truly, Jamel “The Voice” Thompson, the Harlem Wizards disc jockey. Jamel announced the teams players one by one, starting with the Field Elementary team the Double Double Dunkers. Field’s Double Double Dunkers team included; Principal Maria Fly Away” Apodoca, Julieann “Thank Goodness for Gravity” Pina, Mr. “Slam Dunk” Stone, Ms.I'm not sure why I'm here” Morrisey, along with other students and staff members. There were also celebrity guest appearances who joined Field’s team of Double Double Dunkers. Kareem Grimes, who has featured in several television series including The Parkers and many other feature films came to play ball like never before. Keedar Whittle, previous middle school teacher and now staring in BET's #1 hit reality show Hell Date came out to show his support for this wonderful event, as well.

There was no doubt, that the Harlem Wizards brought their amazing team of wonderful players such as; Rashaan “Rocket” Barner, who has a 50-inch vertical leap and David “DP” Paul, who is very energetic with a character like personality. Along with these talented players are former Harlem Globetrotters, Arnold “A-Train” Bernard, known as an amazing point guard as well as having a very funny personality. Anthony “Any Way You Want It” Richard, known for his special wit using his hands to handle the ball. Germaine “Man-i-ac” Wright, very charming and tremendous athletic skills and Eric “Broadway” Jones known for his uplifting spirited play, superior leadership and one of the Harlem Wizards top players. The Harlem Wizards charismatic team of six players “Wowed” the entire audience, who enjoyed the high spirited energetic atmosphere.

This game was one of the first fund-raising basketball events for Field Elementary and it turned out to be very successful. The game was sponsored by Jet Blue Airlines, Crown Valley Pool & Spa, SAV-On Carpet & Drapery, JPina Consulting, and also received wonderful donations from Balloon Emporium, Skewers, Basket Robbins, Chuck E Cheese, Dream Dinners, Garlic Jims Pizza, Islands Restaurant, Kabuki Japanese Restaurant, Med Car Plus Hospice & Home Health, Footlocker, Morgan Stanley, Green Street Cafe and many more.There were prizes given away to the audience members that attended. The highlight of the game was the 10 pound Nestle Crunch bar with all the players signatures, given to a lucky raffle winner from the audience. During the half time show there was a raffle ticket pulled from Eric “Broadway” Jones for a chance to win two airline tickets from Jet Blue Airlines, to whomever could shoot a free throw from half court.

The game was amazing as the Harlem Wizards did tricks and slam dunks to give the crowd what they asked for.The game ended with the Harlem Wizards winning with a score of 32 and the Double Double Dunkers scoring 28 points. There has not been such a fun loving game in the Pasadena community, but for the student, friends and family members of Field Elementary it was a enjoyable moment and great experience. Field Elementary School appreciated the Harlem Wizards performance and plans are in the works to make this an annual event for the students, staff members and Pasadena community.

We hope to see the Harlem Wizards in 2009 to bring the enjoyment back to the city of roses.
